Fat Boy Construction Now Offers Deep Foundation Solutions
Fat Boy Constructions takes residential foundations to new depths.
Fat Boy construction has always maintained that structural integrity in home building is the key to lasting value. We have consistently refused to use inferior products or practices in the course of construction; such as OSB and man-made materials. Fat Boy construction also never starts a project in the winter. These are just a few of the things that make Fat boy different from other custom home builders in the area.
In light of this philosophy, we at Fat Boy have watched as other local homebuilders installed foundations at inappropriate times of the year; on non-compacted soils; and even worse in lowland locations which have sub-standard soils not suitable for traditional foundation applications.
For these reasons, foundation failure is common in the area creating a demand for structural and foundation repair solutions and new construction foundation underpinning techniques.
A couple years ago, Fat Boy was contacted by a gentleman whom requested that we repair his summer home which had been sinking since the time it was constructed in 1996 by another builder. The original builder had completed the project on a river dike and refused to install pilings to support the structure. During construction, settling occurred, so the builder shimmed a portion of the building and placed interior columns in an attempt to rectify the problem.
It was now Fat Boy's job to solve the problem and give this homeowner the peace of mind he so desperately needed.
Before tackling the project, Fat Boy owner Zane Kelly began thoroughly researching underpinning products and services, from piling, to push piers until he finally found what he was looking for, the perfect pier product for the unique and unstable soil conditions of the area. A pier that could go deeper than other piers and a pier that did not need to find load bearing strata in order to create resistance so that the load of the structure could be transferred to it without failure.
The A.B. Chance Helical Pier from IMR, a distributor for Chance in Denver, CO. With the help of John Pack and Bob Jones from IMR, Fat Boy managed to raise and support the home on Chance helical piers. As it turned out, Fat boy drove piers an average of 150 ft., and exceeded 220 ft. on our deepest, totaling over 1 ¼ miles of steel.
The home owner was so pleased; he recommended our service to a local sawmill being re-built. Chance Helical piers were installed on the building interior in locations that a pile-driver couldn't access.
Fat boy has found a new friend in the Chance and Atlas Helical Pier systems allowing for our sturdy and stout custom homes to be just that much STOUTER.
Fat Boy construction has found another niche, one that will solve foundation problems not addressed by other builders, and one that will revolutionize the way new homes built and are stabilized in the area.
Fat Boy is currently offering free evaluations and estimates for residential foundation repair, commercial foundation underpinning and other public stabilization projects using the Chance and Atlas Helical Pier Systems. Fat Boy looks forward to helping you to repair failing or settling foundations, and are publicizing the advantages of deep foundations in appropriate locations for new construction. Due to our background in custom construction, we can provide a complete repair package, or simply raise and secure the foundation, leaving the repairs to others.
