Fat Boy Construction Now Offers Deep Foundation Solutions
Fat Boy Construction takes residential foundations to new depths.
Fat Boy Construction has always maintained that structural integrity in home building is the key to lasting value. We have consistently refused to use inferior products or practices in the course of construction. Fat Boy Construction also never starts a project in the winter when concrete might freeze. These are just a few of the things that make Fat Boy Construction different from other custom home builders in the area. In light of this philosophy we at Fat Boy Construction have watched as other local homebuilders install foundations at inappropriate times of the year; on non-compacted soils; in lowland locations which have substandard soils not suitable for traditional foundation applications, and located on hillsides prone to movement. Unfortunately foundation failure is becoming common in the area, creating a demand for structural foundation repair solutions and new construction foundation underpinning techniques.
A few years ago, Fat Boy Construction was contacted by a homeowner who requested that we repair his summer home, which had been sinking since the time it was constructed in 1996 by another builder. The original builder had completed the project on a river dike and declined to install pilings to support the structure. During construction settling occurred, so the builder shimmed a portion of the building and placed screw base interior columns in an attempt to rectify the problem. It was now Fat Boy Construction’s job to solve the problem and stabilize the foundation to allow the homeowner a safe living area.
Before tackling the project, Fat Boy Construction owner, Zane Kelly began by thoroughly researching underpinning products and services from piling to push piers until he finally found what he was looking for, the perfect pier product for the unique and unstable soil conditions of the area. A pier that could go deeper then other piers and a pier that did not need to find load bearing strata in order to create resistance so that the load of the structure could be transferred to it without failure. The Heli-Pile from IMR, a piling manufacturer in Denver, CO. With the help of John Pack, Professional Engineer and Bob Jones, owner of IMR, Fat Boy Construction managed to raise and support the home on helical piers. As it turned out,Fat Boy Construction drove piers an average of 150 ft and exceeded 220 ft on our deepest, totaling over 1 ¼ miles of steel.
The homeowner was so pleased he recommended our service to a local sawmill being rebuilt. Helical piers were installed on the building interior, in locations that a conventional pile-driver couldn’t access.
Fat Boy Construction has found a solution in the Heli-Pile System for both failing foundations and now construction in marginal locations, along with retaining walls and more.
Fat Boy Construction is filling a niche, one that will solve foundation problems not addressed by other builders and one that will revolutionize the way new homes are being built and stabilized in the area.
Fat Boy Construction is currently offering free evaluations and estimates for residential and commercial foundation repair, foundation underpinning, and other stabilization projects using the Heli-Pile System. Fat Boy Construction looks forward to helping you repair failing or settling foundations and are publicizing the advantages of deep foundations in appropriate locations for new construction. Due to our background in custom construction we can provide a complete repair package or simply raise and secure the foundation, leaving the repairs to others.
