So from the last blog we were speaking of the veneer stone work on the Mercer Island Home. Here are the finished photos of the exterior. We finished the soffits with a clear cedar tongue and grove that was stained. The clear cedar has no knots in it so it gives it that clean linear look. We ran the cedar perpendicular to the main house so it would stand out and give it that POP we were hoping for. The rest of the soffit is a Hardy Brand cement board soffit that was painted to match the trim color. This blends it into the house and draws your eye away into more detailed sections. The next step was adding the railing to the half walls that surround the project. We used a wrought iron railing that gets powered coated the same color as our trim. The light color of the stucco and the dark trim color really make the stone work stand out. We think that it tied everything in nicely.
